Owned by Air Canada, zip started flight operations on September 22, 2002, as the carrier’s Calgary-based, low-cost operation targeted against arch-rival WestJet in Western Canada. Harking back to the lavish colours of Dallas based Braniff International, zip also painted their fleet of Boeing 737-200s in bright paste colours. We can now look back and say that during zip’s amazing two years of operations, it was certainly the end of the plain plane in Canada.

Calgary-based aviation videographer Anthony Hickey put great efforts into filming the ZIP Boeing 73 fleets, and this 88 minute movie presents an comprehensive all-season round-up of zip’s Calgary flight activity.
