Mount Paektu in North Korea is a spectacular volcanic lake crater that sits on the North Korean border with China and is situated about 100 kms from Samjiyon airport. We flew to Samjiyon airport aboard Air Koryo IL-62 P-885 and then were driven to Mount Paektu where we hiked our up to the crest of the crater lake, for unbelievable once in a lifetime views.
