Rankin Inlet Airport Action 1994 – NWT Air | Calm Air | Canadian North

Details

JetFlix TV founder Henry Tenby visited Rankin Inlet airport on August 22, 1994, with his video camera to film the action on hand at the airfield in anticipation of the Queen’s visit later that same day. The airliner residents of the era included Calm Air and their HS748s, and NWT Air and Canadian North with the Boeing 737-200 combi jetliners, and even Kewaatin Air and their Merliner.

Situated an hour and a half North of Winnipeg by 737-200, Rankin Inlet, NWT, is also situated half way between Yellowknife and Iqaluit, so it was a regular port-of-call for NWT Air and their Boeing 737-200s on the famous “Trans-Territorial” route. Rankin Inlet is not an easy place to get to, and it attracts pretty much zero in terms of mass tourism traffic, so footage of aircraft filmed at the airport as quite rare.
