Join Henry Tenby for a fabulous visit to the 2024 CFB Comox Airshow. This airshow last took place in 2015 so it was a long time coming. And they laid on the action like I’ve never seen in 60 years of attending airshows. This airshow was all muscle no filler; it will all active military aircraft in the air, a visual feast for the eyes and ears, specially the ears. The Lockheed CC-130 C-130 Hercules has served with the Canadian military since the 1960s and we can safely say the type is almost non replaceable. In the year 2024, the RCAF still has a number of the older H model Hercules still in service in the paratroop and cargo deployment role, and air-to-air refuelling role. And the good folks at CFB Comox laid on one of hell of a C-130 display, totally nearly 2 hours of flight and display time for those lucky enough to be present at the CFB Comox media day and airshow. I can say that in all my 60 years, I have never seen so much C-130 Hercules flying ever! In cumulative. In my entire life!! It was well worth attending this fabulous airshow to witness the great C-130 Hercules flight display in a great many years, or even decades! It was a once a lifetime event, a special display for the lovers of Allison engined transports.
